Rubies have an extraordinary significance in the world of jewellery. In the 19th century, their vibrant color was often associated with love and passion: "Rubies are particularly suitable for young lovers [...] In general, it is considered the symbol of the most passionate and ardent love," the Illustrirte Damen-Zeitung Bazar already knew in November 1886. This vintage ring presents a ruby of the most beautiful color of all, the pigeon's blood red or "Pigeon's Blood", in its center. The ring is designed as a variation of the classic entourage ring, with twelve diamonds surrounding the ruby. The ruby is a natural gemstone from Thailand weighing approximately 1.50 ct. The diamonds together weigh 0.80 ct. The gemstone settings and the rest of the ring are made of high-carat white gold. The ring was created in Paris in the 1990s and is in very good condition. It also came to us from Paris. An independent appraisal has confirmed the quality of the materials. It is enclosed with the piece of jewelry.
