Voigtländer folding Analogue camera

This is a splendid vintage bellows camera (also called folding) produced by the German company Voigtländer, dating from the late 1920s or early 1930s. The details engraved on the front allow precise identification of its mechanical components: • Shutter: It is an Ibsor model (as clearly read to the left of the lens). The D.R.P. insignia visible to the right stands for Deutsches Reichs-Patent (Patent of the German Empire). • Lens: It is a Voigtländer Anastigmat Skopar with maximum aperture of 1:4.5 and focal length of 10.5 cm (f=105mm), ideal for the era’s photographic size. Serial number 514195. This optical block was mounted on various historic Voigtländer body formats (such as Vag, Avus, or the early Rollfilm series depending on whether it used glass plates or reel film). Optical Group and Shutter: • Lens (Anastigmat Skopar): It is a four-element lens (Tessar-type design), renowned at the time for exceptional sharpness, high contrast, and correction of geometric distortions (hence the name Anastigmat). • Focal Length: 10.5 cm (105mm). On cameras of this format (usually 6x9 cm), it provides a normal perspective, very close to human eye perception, ideal for landscapes and environmental portraits. • Maximum Aperture: f/4.5. By 1920s/30s standards, this was considered a bright lens, enabling shooting even in less-than-ideal lighting. • Shutter (Ibsor D.R.P.): It is a mechanical central shutter with leaf blades. It offers time exposures (typically from 1 second to 1/100 or 1/125 of a second), as well as long exposures B (Bulb) and T (Time). The D.R.P. inscription certifies the German national patent. Body and Construction: • Folding Design: The camera body is a metal shell (often covered in faux leather or genuine leather) that opens like a book. The lens extends outward thanks to an extensible leather bellows in black. • Focusing: Achieved by manually sliding the lens block along a graduated metal rail, positioned on the tilting front. • Double Viewfinder: These cameras often included both a tilting viewfinder (a small mirror near the lens for shooting at waist height) and a waist-level sport finder (a fold-out metal frame). The camera is in excellent condition, a true relic of the era, for collectors, sold with film-loading plates and the original leather case."
