Wall lamp (2) - Brass - Directory Style

Pair of mid-20th-century wall sconces inspired by the French directory models of neoclassical tradition, made in gold-tone metal and conceived according to the elegant vertical torch scheme. Each piece features a straight, stylized arm capped by a fluted terminal element that visually extends the composition downward, while the top supports a cylindrical opaline white glass shade that diffuses light softly and evenly. The structure combines purified geometric shapes with discreet ornamental details inspired by Louis XVI, noticeable in the turned moldings, pearl rings, and the pierced gallery that frames the base of the shade. The gold finish adds warmth and a monumental character, evoking the luminaires used in lobbies, galleries, and classical taste residences during the central decades of the 20th century. Its balanced design, with marked verticality and refined architectural presence, allows them to fit seamlessly into both classical interiors and transitional spaces, where they stand out for their pure lines, the nobility of the materials, and the decorative quality of their lighting. They preserve the charm of postwar historicist reinterpretations, capable of uniting traditional French elegance with the functional sobriety characteristic of mid-century design.
