Classic French Empire-style Butler's mirror – Gilded hand-carved wood – Convex mirror ("Witch's Eye") Round convex wall mirror, colloquially known as a "Witch's Eye" or Butler's mirror, rendered in the refined French Empire style and fitted with a bulging (convex) glass panel. This creates a stunning, panoramic wide-angle effect that immediately adds depth and grandeur to any interior. This wall mirror is crafted from hand-carved wood. The frame is finished with a warm gold patina and an elegant fluted ray motif (dentil molding). The wooden frame is in good condition with only minimal, age-appropriate signs of wear (see detail photos). The mirror glass shows authentic signs of aging in the form of dark, cloudy patches and streaks. This is the result of the natural oxidation of the silver backing (in the antiques world known as "the weathering"). A charming patina that guarantees the originality, soul and historical character of this French piece. Dimensions Diameter 42 cm This lot will be carefully packed and shipped with a tracking code.
