WAVES of BLUE FLUORESCENT CALCITE and GREEN...

From our selection of collectible minerals we propose an aesthetically pleasing aggregate of Calcite crystals from the Merchant Valley, in Torrebelvicino, Veneto. Moreover, it is characterized by a botryoidal and undulating surface covered by minute drusy crystallization, with bright blue fluorescence and green phosphorescence under ultraviolet light, which enhance its aesthetic value and mineralogical importance. The specimen stands out for the quality of crystallization and for the overall aesthetic balance, with features that highlight its natural structure and visual impact. The fluorescence and phosphorescence of calcite are mainly linked to the presence of manganese ions (Mn2+) that substitute for calcium in the crystal lattice, acting as luminescent activators under UV rays. The caves of the Merchant Valley, in Vicenza, are well known among collectors precisely for producing calcite with these particularly intense optical properties. Phosphorescence, a rarer phenomenon than simple fluorescence, is due to electron trapping centers in the crystal that release light energy even after UV radiation ceases. This is an ideal specimen for mineralogical collections, display, and for those who appreciate the natural beauty of minerals, also in the context of crystal therapy and lithotherapy, according to the properties traditionally associated with the mineral species. All minerals are 100% natural and untreated, with rare exceptions always indicated in the description. Photographs are taken with professional lighting to best enhance colors and details; however, slight variations in shade may occur depending on the device or ambient light.
