Wonderful Pendant with Aquamarine & Diamonds in White Gold, c. 1995

This pendant shines like a shimmering drop of tropical seawater. The wonderful gemstone, an aquamarine of a clear, light blue colour, reflects the incident light with its numerous facets in a variety of ways. The impressive gemstone weighs more than 28 carats. The stone is cut in the so-called "briolette cut", which creates an all-round faceted drop from the rough crystal. Incidentally, this blue gemstone takes its name from its similarity to water - "aqua marina" is Latin for seawater. It therefore seems particularly ingenious that the aquamarine has been cut into a drop here. The teardrop-shaped aquamarine is combined with sixteen brilliant cut diamonds that sparkle white like the spray of the waves. The aquamarine and diamonds are set in high-carat white gold, which further enhances the bright, fresh colour tone of the pendant. Thanks to the eyelet that can be opened, the piece of jewellery can also be worn on a pearl necklace or a silk cord. The pendant is in very good condition and comes with an in-house certificate and an external gemological report. We discovered it in Hamburg.
