Wood and metal mask – Douala – Cameroon This mask made of wood and metal is attributed to the artistic tradition of the Douala of Cameroon, a people historically settled on the banks of the Wouri River and along the Cameroonian coast. The combination of wood and metal testifies to artisanal work that blends different materials to create a piece with a strong visual character. In its design and details, this piece fits within the diversity of Central Africa’s artistic expressions. The fusion of materials gives this mask a singular sculptural presence, appreciated by African art collectors and enthusiasts of ethnographic objects. It will find its place in a specialized collection or in a contemporary interior, where the contrast between wood and metal creates a dialogue between cultural heritage and contemporary aesthetics.
