This striking sculpture, evoking neoclassical grace with its posture of reflective melancholy, is a deep meditation on fragility, memory and identity. The work uses the figure of the female marble or porcelain as a conceptual canvas for the philosophy of Kintsugi. The body of the figure, of immaculate purity, is intrinsically “repaired” and adorned. The conceptual cracks are not filled with gold lines, but transformed into an ornament of vines and flower motifs in relief of pure gold that intertwine with three-dimensional roses in soft tones of carmine and indigo blue. This intervention suggests that wounds and experiences (the original cracks) are not only healed, but give way to a new and richer beauty of the imperfect. The fragility of the material (porcelain or marble, symbols of classical beauty and vulnerability) is countered by the permanence of gold and the vitality of the flowers, symbolizing the reconstruction that blossoms from pain. The serenity of the face and the melancholic posture, combined with the golden opulence that underscores the piece’s history, elevate the work to a statement of aesthetic and spiritual resilience.
