Zeiss Ikon Juwel 275/11 Large format camera

Zeiss Ikon Juwel 275/11 13×18 cm (5×7″) camera, no. 371939, fitted with a Carl Zeiss Jena Tessar 21 cm f/4.5 lens in a Compur shutter. The Juwel is one of the most refined all-metal technical cameras of the interwar years, known for its sturdy build, precision and wide range of movements. The 21 cm Tessar is the standard focal length for this format. The camera has had a full service (CLA). Function - Shutter tested and working, speeds accurate - Bellows light-tight, no pinholes - Movements (tilt, shift) smooth - Focusing precise - Ground glass clean and bright - Locks and clamps working properly - Interchangeable back working Optics - Glass perfectly clear - No fungus or balsam separation - Aperture blades clean and responsive Exterior - Normal wear consistent with age - No major scratches or dents Checked and serviced by EcoLabo Photo, a film photography workshop in Lyon. Ready to shoot. Very carefully packed and shipped with tracking and insurance. Ansel Adams used this model: he owned a Zeiss Juwel 5×7, the equivalent of the 13×18 format, in the 1930s. He even wrote on the back of a print from that time: "This is the first good picture made with the Zeiss Jewel 5 x 7". The camera offered here is an example of the same model. It did not belong to Ansel Adams.
