Immerse yourself in the world of classic aesthetics with this antique opera glass made of gilted brass, adorned with noble iridescent mother-of-pearl. This vintage treasure combines elegant design with traditional craftsmanship and offers not only a stylish decoration but also a functional magnification for your cultural experience. Ideal for lovers of historical optics and accessories, this opera glass becomes an indispensable companion for your special occasions. Manufacturer: Iris was a renowned French manufacturer of optical instruments based in Paris. Era: Most examples on the market originate from the late Victorian or Edwardian era (ca. 1850–1900). Function: These compact binoculars were an essential fashion accessory for theater and opera-goers of the upper social classes at the turn of the century. Antique opera glasses from the Iris brand (often signed Iris Paris) are coveted collectibles from the turn-of-the-century period (around 1900), known for their high-quality optics and elegant design. Here you are bidding on an excellently preserved pair of opera glasses, with no chipping to the mother-of-pearl—signed on both eyecups and in the center of the bridge with the company seal: a six-pointed star, in the middle a large I. Gilded brass with a flattering, minimal patina harmonizes with the rose-white shimmering mother-of-pearl. As well as zinc-plated two-tone brass. The adjustment or focusing via the central wheel is flawless and easy. Magnification is good to very good and provides a clear view. No mold or dust. The stated dimensions refer to the extended (operating) state of the opera glasses! The oculars and lower lenses can be easily removed for cleaning.
