Released on March 23, 1983, it was certified Platinum by the CRIA for 100,000 copies sold on June 13, 1984. Remember Dusty Hill (1949-2021) and Frank Beard (1949-2026) with this rare piece of ZZ Top music history. The release, which cemented ZZ Top's international superstardom, included classic tracks "Gimme' All Your Lovin' ", "Sharp Dressed Man", "Legs", "Got Me Under Pressure" and more. The album reached #2 on the Canada Top Albums chart, and the top 10 in many other countries around the world. Undoubtedly, the best feature of this award is that it i s presented to and was personally owned by ZZ Top co-founder, bassist, co-lead singer, and songwriter Dusty Hill. It was acquired in a 2023 auction personally authorized by Hill's widow Charleen “Chuck” McCrory Hill. The award is dated Oct. 1983, making it approx. 41 years old. It is in VG to Excellent condition with only very minor mars on the frame, and a tiny chip in the glass on the lower left edge. This has been left for originality but the glass can be replaced upon request. Hill was known to carefully care for and display his memorabilia and the award includes its' original custom hard shell box. Some of his many pieces can be seen hanging on his walls in the 2019 Banger Films/Eagle Rock ZZ Top documentary That Little Ol' Band From Texas. Don't miss this chance to get a rare award for the biggest album of ZZ Top's career which became a global hit and earned the group both CRIA and RIAA Diamond awards, presented to a founding member of the group. These are historical artifacts from the year they were produced. As a result they may show signs of wear. Frankly, if you see a 20 to 50-year-old award purported to be in 100% perfect condition, it might be too good to be true. After all, an antique should have "good' wear. If not, you might want to question the piece. As to where they came from, they could have been displayed in record label offices, recording studios, artist manager's offices, radio stations, private collector's homes and yes, of course, possibly the artist's or songwriter's home. Typically, we don't know all the places they may have been over the years other than what we've stated in the description. Finally, a word on photos: Our photos are zoomable so you can get a very good look. Do let us know if you want photos of any other details on our pieces and we'll be happy to provide. *CRIA sales data source: musiccanada.com CRIA Platinum LP award with silver brushed metal frame, "platinum" disc, album cover miniature and silver presentation plate with official CRIA logo In VG to Excellent conditio Award dated October 1983 Presented to and personally owned by Dusty Hill All original Award measures approx. 17" x 21" Fantastic rare collectors item for any fan of ZZ Top Includes original custom hard shell box FREE insured shipping to U.S. and Canada International shipping available
